Traverse City Escape Package Includes Food, Lift Tickets and Discounted Lodging
With snow often up to our knees, it’s nice to hear the name “Traverse City” and free-associate with cherries and summer — the annual cherry blossom explosion, the cherry festival in July. But this wouldn’t be a Lake Michigan city worth its road salt if it didn’t know how to get through a nasty winter.
Have fun, is the Traverse City answer — ski, snowmobile, ice skate. Then warm up with a nice spa treatment and a hot toddy by the lodge fireplace.
Traverse City has a quaint little bunny hill to play on in the west side of town, Hickory Hills Ski Area. For a small fee, you can hold onto the rope tow and head up to the top of the bowl. This city-owned park, home of the Grand Traverse Ski Club, is surrounded by acres of Nature Conservancy land for cross-country skiing.
